Hours: Monday to Friday, (40 hours) – 9.00am to 5.30pm

Job purpose

Our organisation's greatest assets are our people, so it's important that they get looked after properly. The Human Resources Advisor will be working as part of the People Team, supporting all Line Managers and the HR Business Partner. You'll need to be a strong communicator in order to offer advice, guidance and support to staff and managers on a range of issues to include absence, both short and long term, sickness, performance, capability, conduct, disciplinaries, grievance and everything in between!

You'll strive to achieve the best outcome while working towards team and individual deadlines and levels of standard. You'll be busy but will be constantly trying to improve the work you do and in particular drive a 'continuous improvement' mind-set within managers.


You'll have the autonomy to take ownership of ER cases to find a resolution and will produce plans for formal hearings including attending on complex cases when required. You'll need to have excellent communication skills especially over telephone and email and will be using them to advise on employment legislation, policy and best practice.

Based in our beautiful North West London office, you will look after all people related issues for our head office teams and the teams on the road. You will be instrumental in helping the business growth and development of a strong employer brand. This is an exciting, creative environment with a receptive, people focused senior team.

General Duties/Key Responsibilities

  • To deputise for the HR Business Partner as required 
  • Give appropriate HR advice (employment law related and/or using iiaas Policies/Procedures) on key issues such as disciplinaries, grievances and employee health issues 
  • Ensure that Managers are aware of (and use) iiaa Policies and procedures effectively, treating employees fairly, in line with good practice and legislative requirements whilst meeting Business needs 
  • To advise, guide and support managers with all matters relating to employee relations 
  • Support Managers in Disciplinary and Grievance hearings, advising the Manager during the hearing, taking appropriate notes and confirming the outcome 
  • Holding investigations where appropriate, and reporting back on findings 
  • Effective case management of people related issues such as: disciplinaries, performance management, employment tribunals, grievance and absence management 
  • Monitoring trends in employment practices and advising on appropriate proactive action 
  • Providing advice and guidance on disciplinary and welfare cases, capability, grievance, and coaching managers where appropriate. 
  • Make recommendations for improvements in processes and practices 
  • Undertake administrative duties supporting various HR processes including maternity and paternity leave and other forms of special leave; probation procedure; other terms and conditions of employment 
  • Organise Big Welcome (Induction) sessions and deliver training to all new starters 
  • Assisting our Talent Manager to organise interviews and uploading applicants onto the internal system, creating reports, handling invoice and expense queries 
  • Conduct internal surveys to gather employee feedback and identify areas of improvement 
  • Suggest new HR technology solutions to improve day-to-day operations 
  • Drafting and coordinating internal communications, keeping all team members engaged and up to date. Using a range of channels to deliver defined employee communications that create genuine conversations with employees 
  • Celebrate team and individual success, birthdays, special events….. 
  • Ensure employees feel connected to the organisation through the delivery of a values-led two-way communication and engagement, items to include monthly Dashboard, Newsletters 
  • Introduce All Hands Meeting, making the meetings engaging and rewarding 
  • Additional duties:
  • All members of the HR Team will drive continuous improvement of the team and actively contribute to the ongoing development of the organisation
  • To attend supervision, training and meetings as and when required.
  • Any other jobs around the iiaa that may be deemed necessary

Candidate requirements

As our HR Advisor you should be qualified to degree level or above and will have a CIPD certificate. Interpersonal skills and being a team player are absolute musts, as you will work with a number of people at all levels across the business. Self-confidence and being persuasive are important soft skills to have, as well as knowledge of HR systems.

  • Experience in an HR environment with TUPE an advantage
  • IT programmes and HR systems
  • Personable with strong communication and relationship building capabilities across all levels of the business

  • CIPD qualified
  • Practical and logical; able to solve problems quickly
  • Confident and able to deliver training to staff across all functions
